70-Year-Old Man Robs Bank To Get Arrested And Away From Wife

In 2017, a 70-year-old man robbed a Kansas City bank, then sat down in the lobby waiting for the Police to arrive stating he'd rather live in jail than with his wife. He was arrested, but rather than thrown in a cell he was sentenced to 6 months of home confinement.

An FBI agent says Ripple had argued with his wife earlier and told her in writing he'd 'rather be in jail than at home.'

Ripple, who pleaded guilty to a federal bank robbery count, said his depression had gone undiagnosed and that he was feeling like his old self after seeking help and taking medication.

His wife was in the courtroom when Ripple apologized to the Bank of Labor and the teller, saying he didn't mean to scare her during the robbery.
