Kincsem, a female race horse from the 1870s, also called the "Hungarian Wonder" was the best horse race ever in existence. Her starting time before even racing was 1.37 minutes for a mile. Between the ages of 2-5, she entered 54 races, never lost.
Kincsem won races in England, France, Germany, and of course, Hungary. Also won Europe’s premier race at the time, the Goodwood Cup.
Her owner tried to sell her as a yearling, but she was rejected because prospective buyers thought her inferior. She only ate hay or grain from her stables.
She also had a companion cat that traveled with her.
